Iris Loraine Dunnavant Cook

Iris Loraine Dunnavant Cook, 88, of Lynchburg died Thursday June 19, 2014. She was the wife of the late Lt.Col. William Douglas Cook, Sr.
Iris was born October 6, 1925 in Petersburg a daughter of the late Henry Coleman Dunnavant and the late Olive Henshaw Dunnavant. Iris was devoted homemaker to her family and a previous member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights.
She is survived by her son Doug Cook of Forest, a granddaughter Melody Prochazka of Ashburn, a grandson Graham Cook of Forest, and a great-granddaughter Elizabeth Prochazka.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three sisters: Edna D. Cornette, Frances D. Hillis, and Margaret D. Matuck, and one brother Herman L. Dunnavant.
A Memorial Service for Iris will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday June 23, 2014 at Valley View Retirement Center, Lynchburg. Interment will be held privately at Southlawn Memorial Park in Petersburg.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave. Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
