Jack Edward Carr, 78, of Gladys, VA, died Thursday, June 11, 2015. He was the husband of the late Kathryn May Becker Carr for 51 years.
Born Tuesday, January 26, 1937 in Jamestown, NY, Jack was a son of the late Clair Carr and Muriel Jacobson Carr.
Jack is survived by his son Mark Carr two sisters: Cheryl Dimuo and Audene Jaruss; 11 grandchildren: Laura, Eric, Jack, Daniel, Kathy, Michael, Dawn, Joshua, Phillip, Melanie, Jessica; 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephew, and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, Jack was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Carr, and Jack Carr, Jr.; three brothers: Gerald, Lyle, and Gail Carr.
Jack joined the military at age 17. Spending 26 years in the Air Force he saw action in the Vietnam War. A loving family man Jack enjoyed family gathering, bowling and loved working or tinkering on cars.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of Jack’s life will be conducted at 12:00 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Chaplain Wayne Lanham officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post-16.
