Jackson Fletcher Staples

Jackson Fletcher Staples, 78, of Monroe passed away at home on January 12, 2010 with his family by his side.

Jackson was born in Coolwell, June 10, 1931 to the late Elwood B. Staples and Dorothy L.  Staples.

For the past 4 years he resided with his son, William M. Staples and daughter-in-law Melissa W. Staples, who lovingly cared for him during his illness; a son.

He is also survived by a son: Gregory K. Staples, Lynchburg; his six grandchildren; his two great grandchildren; a brother: James Staples and wife, Evelyn of Amherst and three sisters: Ann Parker and husband, Roy, of Gretna, Shirley Price and husband, Eddie, of Earlysville, Doris Coleman of Madison Heights, and many nieces and nephews.

Jack retired from Old Dominion Box factory where he was a pressman; he also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Alice R. Staples; a daughter, Jacqueline S. White and a brother, Charles Staples.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer\"™s Society, PO Box 823, Lynchburg, VA 24505.

A funeral service will be held today at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:00 am in Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #74.
