James Arthur (Jim) Anderson, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his residence
after several years of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Liz)
Anderson for 59 years, who survives him.
Born February 18, 1938 in Lynchburg, he was a son of Glen Arthur Anderson and
Fannie Brooks Anderson, who predeceased him, along with a brother, Lewis, and a sister,
Grace Anderson Butler.
He attended E.C. Glass High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 – 1960.
He worked for Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp., then as an independent insurance salesman
before his retirement.
Jim was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member for 52 years.
He loved country/bluegrass music and never missed an opportunity to attend a music
festival. In his earlier years, he rode his motorcycle with the Retreads throughout the area.
After retirement, he and Liz travelled extensively, to almost all the 50 states, to six of the
seven continents, and cruised all over the world. He loved being with friends,
and enjoyed practical jokes and reminiscing about the good ole days.
Jim is survived by three sons, Jimmy Anderson (Gail) of Jacksonville, Fla., Tommy Anderson
(Donnie) of Orlando, Fla., Ron Anderson (Pam) of Forest, Va.; a daughter, Lisa Anderson
Lee (Don) of Winchester, Va.; eleven grandchildren, Sara Anderson and Holly Anderson of
Jacksonville, Fla., Justin Anderson (Christy) of Winter Garden, Fla., Dylan Anderson of Orlando, Fla., Corey Anderson of Bremerton, Wash., Brittany Anderson of Richmond, Va., Brooke Anderson Richards (Daniel) of Roanoke, Va. and Matthew Lee, Annie Lee, Michael Lee, Molly Lee, of Winchester, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Aliyah Anderson and Jordan Anderson, of Winter Garden, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Patricia Chafee, of Afton, Va.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, Timberlake Road. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16.
