James Earl Adams passed away on April 3, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Kathryn B. Adams; his parents, Henry and Mary Ella Adams; three brothers, Collens, Odell, and Nelson Adams; one sister, Mary Adkins; daughter-in-law, Michelle Davis Adams; and one granddaughter, Alyssa Adams.
He is survived by two sons, Chris Adams and John Adams and wife, Cathy; one daughter, Angela Luttrell and husband, Donnie; four grandchildren, Brandi Floyd, Chase Denson, Robert Dale Adams, and Buddy Luttrell; two step-sons, Gary Johnson and family and Joe Johnson; two step-daughters, Gail Tattum and family and Sally Bowling and family; two great-grandchildren, Carleigh Floyd and Robert Dale Adams, Jr.
James proudly served our country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a devoted C.N.A. with Camelot Nursing Home, where he worked for 13 years until his retirement. James was an avid fan of NASCAR and especially enjoyed watching his favorite drivers, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. He enjoyed bargain hunting at flea markets and yard sales.
The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday April 6, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
