James Edward Carwile 85, of Lynchburg, VA, died Friday, April 15, 2011. He was the husband of Dorothy Reynolds Carwile for 64 years.
Born Sunday, April 11, 1926 in Hat Creek, VA, James was a son of the late Willie Morton Carwile and Sally Smith Carwile.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by his daughters: Shirley C. Walthall and her husband Lloyd, of Lynchburg, and Kathy C. Hines and her husband, Harold, of Lynchburg, two granddaughters; Emme and Ana Hines, of Lynchburg, and a sister; Ursel Calhoun, of Lynchburg.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother; George Carwile, and two sisters; Edith Kiger and Geneva Rigney
James was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and gardening. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. James was retired from Weather Conditioners where he was V.P. of the Service Department. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent. He will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Dr. Ricky Ewing officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 16.
