James Edward Goff of Lynchburg, VA left his earthly body on October 2, 2014 at his residence. Jim was a family man, sports enthusiast, teacher and above all lover of life. He grew up in Wytheville, VA, the oldest of four children of his deceased parents, Iona Taylor Goff and William Edward Goff.
Growing up, Jim was a mower of grass, paper boy, bat boy for the Wytheville Cardinals, car hop, lifeguard, baseball, basketball, and football player. He was blessed with mentors C. B. Hughes and Dr. O. J. Campbell during those first 17 years. He graduated from George Wythe High School in 1960 and maintained lasting friendships with his classmates.
Jim left Wytheville for Appalachian State University and continued his love of sports, playing college baseball and basketball. In the summer he worked as a lifeguard and in his Dad
