James Edward Scrivener

James Edward Scrivener, 88, of Monroe died Sunday July 8, 2012. He was the loving husband of Patsy S. Scrivener for 65 years.

James was born June 6, 1924 in Alexandria a son of the late James Raymond Scrivener and the late Addie Lindsey Scrivener. James honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, and then worked as a professional electrician. He was also a member of Spencer Central United Methodist Church in Spencer, NC.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: James Edward Scrivener, II and wife Roberta, of Lynchburg; Bruce Scrivener and wife Tracy of Forest; Lisa S. Robertson and husband Blake of Amherst; and Hugh Darin Scrivener of Madison Heights, nine grandchildren: Christy Sandidge and husband Greg, Teresa Neighbors and husband Ray, Stacey Scrivener, Kimberley Duff and husband Ben, Donnie Scrivener and wife Laura, Lauren Scrivener, Jared Scrivener, Hayden Robertson, and Sallie Robertson, four great-grandchildren: Logan Duff, Madison Scrivener, Tyler Scrivener, and Brody Neighbors, a brother James Raymond Scrivener of Largo, FL, a sister Nina Scrivener of Annandale, and a daughter-in-law Judy Anderson of Monroe.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Don Scrivener, two sisters Mary Jane Bayne and Margaret S. Martin.  

A Celebration of Jim\"™s Life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday July 11, 2012 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights with Pastor Glynn Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monelison Volunteer Rescue Squad P.O. Box 56 Madison Heights, VA 24572.
