James Edward Winnagle

James Edward Winnagle, 79, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017. He was the husband of Betty L. Winnagle for 33 years.
Born May 28, 1937, a son of the late Mary Louise and the late Raymond Jefferson Winnagle, Sr. James was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond Winnagle, Jr., Roy Winnagle, Mary Mauney, and David Winnagle; and two sons, James Winnagle, Jr. and Mark Overton.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by his sons, Jason E. Winnagle, and Timothy Overton, Sr.; siblings, Betty Calvert, Elizabeth Cooke, Margaret Moore, Gladys Mickey, Charles Winnagle, Allen Winnagle, Catherine Ayers, Norma Jean Winnagle, Steve Winnagle and Patricia Coleman; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of life for James will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, 1 p.m., at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will follow the service at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
