James Edward Hargis

James “Eddie” Hargis, 71, of Lynchburg, VA passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. He was the son of the late, James Odie Hargis, and Merle Olivia Hargis (McLane), the husband of the late Donna Faye Hargis (Staton) of 45 years, and two brother-in-laws, the late Larry Parrish and the late James "Bubbles" Hughes.

Eddie was born on January, 9, 1953 in Lynchburg, VA. He attended school in Lynchburg, then pursued his career as a machine operator at Rock-Tenn at the paper mill.

Eddie had a lot of interests and hobbies. He loved music, muscle cars, motorcycles, bird watching, fishing, and all wildlife. His favorite thing was spending time with his family, laughing, and having a good time. And let’s not forget his faithful companion, Jack.

He is survived by his two daughters, Christy Michelle Hargis and Mindy Kay Hargis (Roger); three grandchildren, Sadie Kay Newcomb (Cameron), Tyler Chase Hargis (Hannah), and Christian Matthew Harris; sister, Joyce Parrish; as well as brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, a host of nieces and nephews, and many caring friends in the community.

A graveside service will be held at Virginia Memorial Park, 11490 Forest Rd, Forest, VA 24551 on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2:15pm.
