James “Jim” Cameron, Iii

James \"Jim\" Allison Cameron III, 79, of Wirtz, died Sunday, July 31, 2011. Born July 9, 1932 in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late James Allison Cameron and Grayce Laube Cameron.

Jim was a graduate of Monroe High School in Rochester, NY and Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, MI. He owned and operated Camerons News in One Lincoln Center, Syracuse, NY, retiring in 1995 to move to Albany, NY. In Albany, he administered the FOCUS Food Pantry before moving to Smith Mountain Lake in 2001. Jim served as the coordinator/director of Lake Christian Ministries from 2003 until his illness in November 2010. He also served on the Member Advisory Committee of Feeding America \"" Southwest, VA. He was a Rotarian for 26 years belonging to clubs in Dewitt, NY, Delmar, NY, and finally a member and past officer of Rotary Clubs of Smith Mountain Lake. As an avid woodturner, he was a founding member of both the Adirondack Woodturners, Albany, NY and the Smith Mountain Lake Woodturners. Jim was a member of Trinity Ecumenical Parish since his arrival to Smith Mountain Lake in 2001.

Jim is survived by his wife, Carol \"Chris\" Cameron; his daughters, Leslie Cameron (Darryl Millet) and Elizabeth Cameron; mother of Elizabeth and Leslie, Marion Cameron; a step-son, William Gregg (Nancy); step-daughters, Lisa Gregg and Beth Gregg; granddaughter, Katherine Millet; grandson, Noah Urbanski; step-grandsons, William Gregg, Jr. and Johnny Alvaro; a sister, Margot Reed; a niece, Dr. Robin Reed; and a nephew, Grant Reed.
