James “Jim” Henry Harlow

James \"Jim\" Henry Harlow, 88, of Lynchburg, VA died Wednesday, February 15, 2012.

 James was born in Charlottesville, VA; James was a son of the late Norman W. Harlow, and the late Muriel Manley Harlow.

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his \"Angel\" and wife Bernice Wyatt Harlow, a brother Claymus (Pete) and his stepfather, George Hensley.

 James is survived by his son: James Eugene Harlow and his wife, Connie, of Little River, SC; two grandsons, James E. Harlow, Jr. (Jay) and his wife, Rhonda of Mooresville, NC and William Avery Harlow of Melbourne, FL; a step granddaughter, Sabra Turner and her husband Wes of Charlotte, NC; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend and caregiver that he always called his other \"Angel\", Gladys Hudnall of Lynchburg.

 James graduated from Madison Heights High School and the Virginia Commercial College. He served our country in the US Army Air Force during WWII. He was retired from Craddock Terry Shoe Corporation. He was a charter member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church.

 James was very active in sports. He loved playing tennis, volleyball, softball and golf. He was a member of the Lynchburg Senior Recreation Sports, also participated in the 10 miler. He loved square dancing and line dancing; he was a member, instructor and caller for the Quitchers Square Dancing Club.

 A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Vernie Barrow, Jr. officiating. Military Honors by American Legion Post 16. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 4:00 \"" 6:30 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
