James “Jimmy” Marvin Williamson passed away on February 21, 2025. He was born in Lynchburg, VA on November 4, 1936, a son of the late Eugenia Williamson.
Jimmy attended New London Academy before leaving to join the Air Force. While in the Air Force, Jimmy had a knack for repairing airplanes, which led to a successful career as the owner of Williamson’s Body Shop & Wrecker Service. He faithfully served the citizens of Campbell County and the surrounding areas for over 50 years. In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed dancing and attending bluegrass festivals.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Williamson; son, Vern Williamson; and daughter, Starr Williamson.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Peggy Mays; son, Charles H. Mays II; daughter, Treva Satterfield (Lawrence); grandchildren, Bill Brooks, Dakota Goodman, and Tristan Satterfield; great grandchildren, Daniel Roc Satterfield and Justice Thomas Goodman.
A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 6 – 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery.
