We mourn together the passing of James Lewis Peak on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, and to celebrate the 72 years of his life. He was born on April 20, 1943, to James Lewis Peak and Thelma Wade Peak in Lynchburg, Va., as their first born, and is survived by his younger sister, Andrea Peak Neighbors.
He was a loving husband to Marjorie Zito Peak, whom he married on May 13, 1967, and with whom he has three children and their spouses, Benjamin Kevin Peak, Juli Ann Peak, James Andrew Peak, Jonathan William Stewart, and Andrea Peak Stewart; and six grandchildren, Ethan James Stewart, Jonathan Austin Stewart, Adeline Grace Peak, Maisie Lu Peak, Kittrina Blakely Stewart, and Willimina Bailey Stewart.
He was a very gifted teacher, coach, and administrator for most of his life; most of his working life spent as principal of William Campbell High School in Naruna, Va., Jefferson Forest High School in Forest, Va., and Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, Va. Jim was a man of faith in Jesus Christ, committed to believing the best about others and helping them realize the best in themselves. He is greatly missed as a loving faithful friend to all of those he knew because, to him, we were all family.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 1301 Red Top Orchard Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
