James Morse

Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home. On January 22, 2024 at 4:18 am Jesus held James's hand tightly and led him through the light to his heavenly home.

James was born on February 17, 1951, to the late James Fulton & Rebecca Ross Morse.  James leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 52 years, Cynthia Morgan Morse; Guard Daughter; Lakeishia Davis, (Lance); caregivers/sister & brother-in-law, April & Walter Ellis. Sisters; Armither Braxton, Merredith Page and Theresa (Clyde) Hicks; three brothers, Zack (Janice) Morse, David (Margaret) Morse and Charles Morse. Four Aunts, Cecelia Essex, Virginia Ross, Margaret Thompson and Sally Thomas; one Uncle John Ross and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, church family & friends. 

He began his career with GlaMorgan Foundry in 1968, Now Known as U.S. Pipe in Lynchburg, Virginia. He retired in 2017 with 48 years of service.

James gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined the White Rock Baptist Church in Arrington, VA. After his family relocated to Madison Heights, VA, he met his wife while and attended the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church for several years. James and Cynthia were the first couple to be married in the new Sanctuary on July 1, 1972. While worshiping at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, James attended numerous training seminars under the guidance and leadership of Pastor Ford and his father-in-law, Thomas Morgan which strengthen his faith in God.

In 2009 James & Cynthia relocated to Nelson County and he reunited with the White Rock Baptist Church. He became an active dedicated member where he maintained an unwavering faith in God and loved to attend Sunday School and Church services.   He gave untiringly of his time, talent and treasure serving as Church Custodian, Usher, President of the Usher Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Male Chorus, Deacon and Chairman of the Deacon Ministry. James also organized the Men’s Ministry and served as President.

James’ hobbies included fishing, gardening and hunting.   He often took pictures of his garden and donated produce to family and friends. His passion was fishing, and the lord blessed him, whereby he was able to fish in Alaska twice for Halibut and Salmon. He was blessed to fished in Martinique and Aruba. He also caught several large tunas on the Easter Shore, whereby His picture was published in the Fishermen’s News Pamphlet in Wachapreaque, Virginia.

A Loving devoted husband, Christian and friend, James will be greatly missed. Our garden now has a large void that cannot be replaced or filled. We thank God for James life and we will forever celebrate and honor his time with us in anticipation of the reunion with God when he calls us home.
