James “Jim” N. Brown, 94, of Lynchburg died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015. He was the devoted husband of the late Lorene Sandifer Brown for 57 years.
Jim was born in Gladys on June 3, 1921; a son of the late James Fred Brown and Lena Perkins Brown. Jim worked as a pipe fitter and plumber for many years, was a member of the Odd Fellows, and a charter member of Parkview United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Julie Brown Banton and her husband Michael of Forest; two loving granddaughters, Lauren Banton Martin and husband Scott of Lynchburg, and Whitney Banton Rosser and husband George of Forest; two special great-grandchildren, Maddison Nicole Martin and Grady Lynnwood Michael Rosser; and a very dear friend, Jean Wilson.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Christine Wright.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A graveside service for Jim will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015 at Spring Hill Cemetery with Pastor Lynn Alley-Grant officiating.
