James Norman Jefferson, 71, of Forest, Va., departed this life on Thursday, June 28, 2018.
Born Monday, April 7, 1947 in Lynchburg, Va., James was a son of the late Elijah Holmes Jefferson and the late Inez Carter Jefferson.
James is survived by his brothers, David Jefferson and his wife Valeria, and Salvatore “Sal” Jefferson, and his wife, Sharon, nephews, David Jefferson, Jr., Salvatore “Butch” Jefferson Jr., and his wife, Zakia, a niece, Elizabeth “Libby” Jefferson, great nephews, Trey and Jaxon Jefferson, and a special friend, Felicia Linthicum. Also close friends, Timmie Edwards, Stephen Farrow, Jack and Brenda Tymchyn as well as Tommy and Judy Bell.
James proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Army. James was a hard worker, who never complained about anything. A very caring person, he enjoyed being with his family and telling stories. James professed faith in Christ at an early age at Forest Level Baptist Church. Later in life, he attended and enjoyed the fellowship of Tree of Life Ministries. James worked at the Lynchburg Elks Lodge and retired for the City of Lynchburg, working at the airport.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory. A Celebration of James’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018.
