James Oscar Williams, Sr., 81, of Lynchburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 15, 2018.
He was preceded in death by a son, James O. Williams, Jr., his parents and four brothers. Oscar was a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Betty Kay Fancher Williams, daughter, Susan Kay Armontrout; daughter and son-in-law; Barbara Jane and Ronald Gunter; son and daughter-in-law; Dwight Dexter and Deadra Dawn Williams; daughter-in-law; Mary Roxanne Williams; eight grandchildren: James and Christopher Armontrout, Melissa Gunter, Amanda Campbell, Allen Williams, Marianne Thurman, Joshua and April Williams, ten great-grandchildren and brother; Roy Ray Williams of Cosby, Tenn.
Services will be held at Lakewood Baptist Church, 10:00 am Monday, June 18, 2018 with Pastor Dan Manley officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
The Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg Va.24502.
