James Clifton "Sonny" Overstreet

James Clifton “Sonny” Overstreet, 80, of Bedford, Virginia passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at his home. He was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey on January 6, 1944, a son of the late James Robert Overstreet and Louise Carter Overstreet. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and son, Jason Overstreet, two sisters and one brother.

 He served our county in the United States Army and the Army National Guard. He retired from Yokohama tire factory. Sonny was an avid hunter and fisherman.

 He is survived by his wife of 42 years Vickie M. Overstreet. Two sons, Kevin Overstreet and Michael Overstreet. Three daughters Connie Overstreet Collins, Michele Overstreet Shannon, and Ashley Carter (Andrew). One brother Raymond “Butch” Overstreet (Joyce). Four sisters Lois Holland, Frances Stanley (W.R.), Edith Hall, and Janet Brown (Alan). Seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 A funeral service and celebration of Sonny’s life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11:00 am at Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Ross Gilfillen and Rev. Ray T. Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in Peaks Church Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.
