James “Jim” Palmer Myers was an extraordinary man. He was born in Lynchburg in 1948 and passed away on April 11, 2015 peacefully at home next to his beloved wife, Karen.
Jim was involved with over 400 theatrical productions as actor, director, lighting and set designer, and playwright. In order to feed his theatrical passion, he became a certified chef at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Among those who enjoyed his food, are Don Johnson of Miami Vice, the cast and crew of Dirty Dancing at Mountain Lake Hotel, and the students and faculty at the Virginia School of the Arts.
In 2005 he realized a dream when he opened Daddy Bim’s BBQ with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. He is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He is remembered for his kindness, integrity, love, and laughter.
A memorial celebration will be held May 30, 2015 from 1 to 4 pm at Renaissance Theater Company, 1022 Commerce Street, Lynchburg, Va.
