Randy James Board, 65, of Thaxton, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 25, 1956, in Roanoke to James Edward Board and Elsie Bramlett Board.
Randy worked for many years at the Roanoke Valley Juvenile Detention Center as a maintenance supervisor. He attended Shady Grove Baptist Church and after retirement became very involved there, being there every time, the doors were open. In addition to church, he volunteered at the mission. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Jason Board, Jeff Board and wife, Kristen and Jennifer Jaye and husband, Jesse; grandchildren, Aaron, Hunter, Kyndale, Kaitlyn, Austin, Ryan, Christopher, Lexi, Zoe, Hailey, Gracie, and Paisley, and great-grandchildren, Ava and Walker.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Benjamin Sturgis officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, is assisting the family.
