Born in Manchester, CT, he was predeceased by his father, Edward F. Dellert and his mother, Evelyn McCaughey Dellert, as well as a beloved brother, David Vaughn Dellert.

 He is survived by his wife, Melinda S. Dellert of Forest: Son; James Robert Dellert, Jr. (Patty) of Greenville, SC: Daughters; Katherine Dellert Whitlow (Stratton) of Oxford, NC and Laura Blankenship (David) of Evington, VA.: Grandchildren; Elizabeth Dellert Walder, Thomas Whitlow, Taylor Whitlow, Christopher Allred, Kelly Tighe, Brandy Blankenship and David Blankenship, Jr. He is also survived by many well-loved nieces and nephews. Surviving brothers are: Edward R. Dellert (Lee), Glastonbury CT and Venice FL, Frank G. Dellert (Ann), Bradenton, FL and Douglas Dellert W. Hartford, CT.

Also surviving is a well-loved friend, Katherine Royster Dellert Ewing.

 As a man gifted by God, Jim first served his Lord in music, being trained in boys choirs at St. James Episcopal Church, W. Hartford, CT. After receiving his MM in sacred music at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, Princeton, NJ, he served as Minister of Music at 1st Presbyterian Church, Staunton, VA. While there he established the Staunton Choral Society, which survives today. Upon receiving God\"™s call to pastoral ministry, he received his MDiv at Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, VA. His first pastorate in Shallotte Presbyterian Church, NC saw him also establish worship services on the beach at Ocean Isle, NC, and they are ongoing to this day. Pastorates followed at Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Southern Pines, NC, Bixby Presbyterian Church, Advance, NC, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lynchburg, VA. His final pastorate was as founding pastor of The Kirk, Forest, VA an interdenominational Christian Community Church. In retirement his further ministry was to greet and visit with his neighbors-old and young alike-at Food Lion in Forest.

 The joy of serving his fellow man filled his days on this earth and his joy in The Lord is now complete. Well done, good and faithful servant.

 The family wishes to thank Dr. James Vandewater, Dr. Alan Kauppi and Centra Home Health nurse, Vicky Moore for their professional and loving care.

A service of Celebration and Resurrection will be conducted at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm, with visitation one hour preceding the service and scattering of ashes and interment to follow at The Kirk, Forest. Those wishing to make memorials should consider the church of their choice or any charity to benefit his fellow man.
