James Rosser, 86, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, November 26, 2016. He was the loving husband of Anne Holt Rosser.
Born Tuesday, March 18, 1930, in Campbell County, James was a son of the late Eleanor Steppe Rosser and Horatio J. Rosser. He retired from the United States Army and also Universal Foods in Baltimore, Md. James received a Bronze Star for outstanding service in the Vietnam War, and also served two tours in the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Victoria Rosser (Ken Locke); step-daughter, Teresa Roark; sister, Geraldine Wilkerson (Charles); two grandsons, Louis Mueller (Lisa) and Ryan Locke; great-grandson, Andrew Mueller; step-grandson, Jeremy Roark; step granddaughter, Heather Jones (Bobby); and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Melvin Rosser; and two sisters, Shirley Mitchell and Dorothy Watkins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg today, Monday, November 27, 2016, and at other times at the residence.
A celebration of James’ life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in the Chapel at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Pastor Jerry Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow in the New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 2084 New Chapel Road, Rustburg, VA 24588, with Military Rites provided by the American Legion Post 16.
