Master Sgt. James T. Decker, 45, of Waynesboro died Monday August 22, 2011.
James was born June 6, 1966 a son of Ted Decker and Dora Mae Decker of Amherst. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and the National Guard and was a veteran of Desert Storm. James was also a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in New Market.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his daughter Taylor Nicole Bell of Altavista, two sons: Austin Blake Decker and Gavin Chase Decker both of Lynchburg, two sisters: Dawn Decker of Lynchburg, and Brenda Meadows of Inwood, WV, and one brother Robert Decker of Chesnee, SC, five nieces and three nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday August 28, 2011 at Fort Early in Lynchburg, 4511 Memorial Ave. Lynchburg, VA 24501.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday August 29, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with Pastor Shane Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors provided by the National Guard.
