James Thomas Fowler

James Thomas Fowler, Sr. 72, of Pedlar Mills died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Helen Edith Fowler for seven years.

 Born September 13, 1939 in Ritchie, MD, Jim was a son of the late Thelma Bershers Lloyd and the late Albert Leroy Fowler.

 In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by a son; James Thomas Fowler, Jr., a brother; John Christian Fowler, two sisters; Dorothy Mae Hall and Florence Higgs Sturm, and a niece; Rhonda Lynne Sturm.

 In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a son; Leonard Fowler and his wife, Samantha, five step children; Bobby McDonaldson and his wife, Julie, Tammy Dwyer and her husband, Tim, Danny McDonaldson and his wife, Cherie, Barbara Eber, and Cathy Slone and her husband, Stacy, five brothers; Francis Leroy Fowler and his wife, Donna, David Roland Fowler, and his wife, Debbie, Richard Leroy Higgs and his wife, Nickel, George Joseph Higgs and his wife, Irma, and Stanley Cyril Higgs and his wife, Peggy, four sisters; Mildred Ann Holt and her husband, Jimmy, Margaret Johnson, Audrey Lynn Moran, and Linda Marie Hapeman and her husband, Paul, a Brother-in-Law; Larry Sturm. 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

 Jim was a godly man. He loved his family unconditionally. He never had a bad word to saw about anyone. Jim loved playing cards, especially on the internet. Having moved to Amherst County after retiring he especially enjoyed the Amherst Seniors program, where he often could be found calling bingo. Jim was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, formally of First Crofton Baptist Church and retired from the Maryland National Guard and Jack Stone Sign Company.

 The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Tharp Madison Heights Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at New Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. Greg Taylor and the Rev. Doug Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Allwood Cemetery.
