James Val Staples, Jr.

James Val Staples, Jr., 80, of Madison Heights, died at Lynchburg General Hospital on Sunday, December 9, 2018. He was the husband of Eleanor Bowling Staples for 52 years.
J.V. was born April 21, 1938 in Clifford, Virginia a son of the late James Val Staples, Sr. and Burksie Harvey Staples. J.V. was retired from B & W Technologies and Central Virginia Training Center. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Staples McKie of Santa Monica, California and a son James Val Staples, III of Columbus, Ohio.
As an avid sportsman, J.V. enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bicycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway and connecting with people worldwide on Ham Radio.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Madison Heights, is assisting the family.
