James Wallace Gregg, Sr.

James Wallace Gregg, Sr., 89, of Roanoke and formerly of Bedford, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Friendship Health and Rehabilitation. Born February 7, 1923 in Richmond; he was a son of the late Robert H. Gregg and Eunice Lankford Gregg.

James was a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church and a former employee of Piedmont Label. James was a proud veteran; having served this country in the United States Navy. He loved woodworking and furniture. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Gray Gregg, and his son, James W. Gregg, Jr.

He is survived by his son; Kevin Gregg and wife, Heather, his daughters; Susan O\"™Malley and husband, Kevin, and Mary Kathryn Davis and husband, Bob, nine grandchildren; Matthew Gregg, Benjamin Gregg, Sydney Gregg, Alex Gregg, Christopher Wells, Ethan Wells, Kaitlyn Davis, Hannah Davis, Caleb Davis, and two cousins; Julia Wilkinson, and Ella Mae Epes.

The family will receive friends tonight, May 22, 2012, from 6 until 8 PM at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. A funeral service will be conducted 10 AM Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Bedford Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private in Greenwood Cemetery.
