James William Patterson
James \"Jim\" William Patterson, 70, formerly of Bedford, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at his home in Hampton. Born March 8, 1941, in Washington, DC, Jim was a son of the late John Joseph Patterson and Janie Bodiford Patterson.
Jim served as General Manager of Bedford\"™s own radio station, WBLT.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Angie Ayers Patterson; three sons, Travis Edward Patterson and his wife, Danielle of Flossmoor, Il, Christopher Lee \"Turtle\" Patterson and his wife, LeeAnn of Port Matilda, PA, and Patrick William Patterson and his wife, Cheerre of Montvale; a daughter, Anne Marie (ReeRee) Arthur and her husband, Don of Bedford; nine grandchildren, Taylor Hart Patterson, Morgan Hart Patterson, Christian Ray Arthur, and Conner Christopher Patterson; Lauren Ashley Patterson, Samantha Phoenix Patterson, Brooke Diana Patterson, Katie Allison Arthur, and Emily Elizabeth Patterson; a nephew, Hank Williamson; and a niece, Kathy Kirsht.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 1307 Oakwood Street, Bedford, VA 24523.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 1:30 pm Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church with Father Stephen McNally officiating. There will be visitation 5 \"" 7 pm, Friday, September 16, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
