Jami Danielle Putt

Jami Danielle Putt- of Lynchburg, VA passed away (unexpectedly) on Saturday September 10, 2011 after a long and difficult illness. Jami was born August 28, 1985 in Burlington NC. She was the 2nd daughter of Robert and Vicky Putt. Jami graduated from Chatham High School in Pittsylvania County in 2003 and achieved her CNA license in 2008. She was employed at Avante Nursing Home. Jami loved caring for her patients and went above and beyond her responsibilities to make their lives more comfortable. She took pride in her calling and often worked when she herself was struggling with illness.

Jami was an accomplished swimmer in her youth. At one time, she held records for the free style and butterfly at several area pools. She qualified for Virginia Junior Olympics and finished in the top ten in the state for her 50 free-style. On relay teams, she was always the one who swam the butterfly. She had a beautiful butterfly stroke that was so much fun to watch.

Jami\"™s long battle with an eating disorder and finally kidney failure made her sympathetic to other\"™s frailties. She tended to feel the anguish of those who had similar struggles. One of her strong desires was to achieve a physical therapy assistant degree, overcome her illness, and spend the rest of her life coming to the aide of others. But, it was not to be. Her life was cut short before those dreams could be realized. However, in many ways, she touched the lives of those who knew her. She had such a compassionate spirit that families of her patients often called her their guardian angel. She entered a patient\"™s room in a big way, made sure they knew she was there, and then proceeded to brighten their day with her \"kidding\" or encouraging words. She had a deep love for her aunts, uncles, and cousins and often had advice for them on how they should live their lives. Yes, Jami definitely had an opinion about nearly everything and did not mind sharing it. She had very little patience for opposing views since she was sure her way was the best way.

Jami was preceded in death by her grandparents, Garland and Lucille Humphreys of Big Island, Va.   In addition to her parents, she is survived by sisters, Ashley R. Putt and Chelsey L. Putt both of Chesapeake, VA, grandparents Zelda and Billy Putt, step-grandmother Della Humphreys, all of Big Island, VA, Aunt Tammy and Uncle Clint Rivers of Ocean City Maryland, Aunt Kathy and Uncle Tim Putt, Aunt Debra and Uncle Joe Crawn, Aunt Betty Sue and Uncle Dean Burley, Aunt Teresa and Uncle Danny Putt, Aunt Julie and Uncle Melvin Putt, Aunt Joy and Uncle Ted Lang all of the Lynchburg area, and all those cousins spread from Texas to Maryland to Virginia.

Visitation will be Tuesday Night September 13, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Tharp Funeral Home on Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA. The funeral will be held at West Lynchburg Baptist Church at 3:30pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Interment will be at Big Island Cemetery along side her Nanny and PaPa. The family request memorials be made to West Lynchburg Baptist Church Mission Fund (she desperately wanted to participate in another World Changers trip herself- but health and work did not allow her that privilege).

We lost Jami entirely too soon but we pray her life and the lessons she taught those of us who knew her will live on into eternity. Her message to you today was found on the wall paper screen of her cell phone. It simply read \"Have Faith\". We place you, dear Jami, into the hands of the Great Physician and Healer who has now healed you and lovingly holds you in His precious care. Dance, sing, and praise the Lord now, our dear one, you have been set free. Save a place for us.

Special thanks to those who provided for her medical needs, loved her, sat with her at dialysis, encouraged her, built her up, and prayed for her.

The family cherishes your memories of her so please, facebook them, text them or send them an e-mail at obituaries.tharpfuneralhome.com. (434) 237-94224.
