January 18, 2017, Jane Ann Bowman Crowley, 90, of Bedford, left this world to join her beloved husband Edward L. Crowley, Sr., her son Edward L. Crowley, Jr. and son Brian W. Crowley, in their heavenly home for eternity. She was the daughter of and predeceased by her parents Spencer W. and Isabel E. Bowman, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 12, 1927.
Left behind to cherish her memory are Patrick J. Crowley, wife Joan of Charlottesville, Liane M. Robertson, husband Dean, of Bedford, Cynthia A. Moeller, husband David, of Roanoke, John M (Jack) Crowley, of Bedford, Sharon E. Barsotti, of Eureka, CA., Sara J. Shoales, husband, Matthew, of Bedford, Amanda J. Carter, husband Keith, of Bedford . To complete her family tree there are 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. Her beautiful legacy.
She and Dad had a wonderful life together living and traveling in Europe for 10 years with his Government career. Upon retiring in 1978, they tried a bout of farming in Thaxton, after which she opened her Children’s Garden Pre-school at her Blue house on Longwood Ave, in Bedford, where she cared for hundreds of pre-schoolers over the next 10 years. Once she was asked “Mama, are babies your business?” And, yes, children have been the love of her life and have always brought her happiness and fulfillment.
We, her children, loved her for her beauty, her innate goodness, her generous heart and unconditional love. We are going to miss her every day for the rest of our lives, knowing though, that we will see her again.
We wish to acknowledge and express our complete love and appreciation to all the wonderful women from Bedford Centra Hospice for their professionalism and dedication, and thank them for loving our mother and taking such good care of her.
Visitation will be Sunday January 22 from 4-6pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. A mass to celebrate her life will be Saturday, January 28, at 11:30am at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Bedford, Va. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bedford Centra Hospice.
