Jane Stephenson Montgomery, 68, of Lynchburg, VA passed into God\"™s arms while surrounded by her family on September 7, 2013.
She was born in Newport News, Virginia on August 1, 1945 to the late William T. Stephenson, Jr. and the late Elaine Williams Stephenson. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Morgan Pritchett.
A tirelessly devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, she was also a dedicated church musician and music educator. She was a graduate of East Carolina University and received a master\"™s degree in sacred music at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a faithful servant of God. Her passion for music, her contagious smile, and her warm-hearted spirit will forever live in the hearts of the countless lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Richard Montgomery; three children, Ginny Shield Pritchett of Virginia Beach, Allison Lynne Shield of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Brian Stephenson Shield of Charlottesville; a stepson, Andrew Michael Montgomery; brothers George Pendleton Stephenson of Seaford, and William Thomas Stephenson, III of Wake Forest, NC; two grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Pritchett of Virginia Beach; and nephews: Will and Hunter Stephenson of Wake Forest, NC and Penn Stephenson of Hampton.
The family will receive visitors at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive in Lynchburg from 6pm to 8pm Monday, September 9th. A graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Blvd., Newport News at 11am Tuesday, September 10th. A celebration of Jane\"™s life will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA at 11am on Thursday, September 12th. Pastor Dennis Roberts will officiate.
