Janelle Wilson Grant

Janelle Wilson Grant, 79, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023.

She was born February 25, in Asheville, NC to the late Col. Calvin Oscar Wilson and Nell Moore Wilson. As a military child, she lived in many places growing up but settled in Fairfax, Virginia as her home. This is where she met her beloved husband, Allen. They were married for 48 years before his passing in 2015. 

Janelle was very strong in her faith. She volunteered for many activities at her longtime church, Fairfax Circle Baptist Church.  Helping in the children’s nursery was one of her favorite activities.  Janelle was also an animal lover and was never without a faithful furry companion.  She often showed friends and family pictures of her many animal friends, with dogs, cats, squirrels and goats as her favorites.  Janelle loved the beach, and she loved watching the Washington Redskins.

Janelle is survived by her children: Marc Grant (Kim), Todd Grant (Lynn), Guy Booth and Kevin Grant (Becky); her grandchildren: Ella, Annabel, Jackson, Noah, Emily, Adam, Imogen and Aaron; her sister Joyce Lister (Dave); her sister-in-law Brenda Wilson; and an abundance of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Janelle is predeceased by her husband Allen Grant, and her brother Ronald Wilson.  Her beautiful daughter Kelly Booth joined Janelle to be with their Lord just hours after her passing.

A celebration of life will be held on December 2, 2023 at 11:00 am at Fairfax Circle Baptist Church in Fairfax, Virginia. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society.
