Janet Dudley Litchford
Janet Dudley Litchford, 68, of Amherst died Sunday February 16, 2014. She was the devoted wife of David Warren Litchford, Jr. for over 51 years.
Janet was born November 18, 1945 in San Antonio, TX a daughter of the late Louie Edward Dudley and the late Reva Mayhew Dudley. She worked as a Quality Control Inspector with Paktron for 31 years and was Baptist by faith. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was survived by two daughters: Anne Litchford of Amherst and Diane Ashley and her husband Junior of Rustburg, son-in-law, Charles Scott, two brothers Vernon E. Dudley and his wife Karen of Concord, and David Dudley of Lynchburg, one sister Mary Tibbs and her husband Gene of Madison Heights, four grandchildren: Brandon, Stephen, Abbie and Erica, and four great-grandchildren: Miles, Madison, Mason, and Bobbie Jo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Scarlet Scott, and a sister Barbara Brooks Wood.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights.
A Graveside service will be held for Janet at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 19, 2014 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Amherst Humane Society 318 Shelter Lane Amherst, VA 24521 or to the Neonatal Unit at Virginia Baptist Hospital 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503.
