Janet Ann Noell Cox, 82, of Goode, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017. She was the wife of the late Owen Talmadge Cox for 50 years.
Born Thursday, October 25, 1934 in Cifax, Janet was the daughter of the late Carey A. Noell and the late Georgia Viola Brown Noell.
In addition to her husband and parents, Janet was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Harold Noell.
Janet is survived by her children, Elizabeth Ann Coleman and her husband, Mike, of Forest; Donna Gay Dobyns and her husband, Leland, of Goode; Lisa Gayle Anderson and her husband, Richard, of Goode; and Lee Talmadge Cox, and his wife, Rebekah Oldham, of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Michael Dobyns and his wife, Glory, of Lynchburg, Joshua Dobyns and his wife, Amanda, of Forest, Lesley Scott and her husband, Chris, of Bedford, and Emily Cox of Lynchburg; seven great grandsons; five sisters in-law, Jean Noell, Sharon Noell, Loretta Davis and her husband, Preston, Carole Amiss and her husband, Carroll, and Patty Burchett; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Janet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed times when all her family was together. She will be remembered by many for her baked goods, especially her pies. For many years, Tuesday meant “Blue Grass Night” at the Cox’s home. Janet always fed everyone. Janet was a loving care giver who took care of many loved ones during their last days. She was a former member of Beulah Baptist Church and a member of Terrace View Baptist Church. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A Celebration of Janet’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
