Janet Sue Schafer Phillips

Janet Sue Schafer Phillips, 86, of Coleman Falls, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. She was born on May 8, 1938, in Vermillion, Kansas to the late Marshall Robert Schafer and Hazel Ellen Wilson Schafer. Janet was the loving wife of the late Lloyd Earl Phillips. In addition to her husband and parents, Janet is preceded in death by her sister, Dolores Ann Beck; Brother-in-Laws, Derry Beck, Bob Woodfin; Grandchildren, Derek Lloyd Turner, and Nicholas Marshall Turner.

 She was a member of Cove United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and being outdoors. She loved bluegrass music festivals and NASCAR, especially Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. Janet cherished her family most of all and will be missed by all who knew her. 

 Janet is survived by her children, DeAnn Phillips Brown and husband John, Shana Phillips Moon and husband, Joe; grandchildren, John “Trey” Brown, III., and wife Caroline, James Brown and wife Samantha, and Bradley Brown; four great-grandchildren: Ariella, George, Jason, and Oscar; sister-in-law, Marion Woodfin; and, nephews, and many friends. 

 A visitation will be held on June 8, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 pm at  Cove United Methodist Church 1082 Walker Rd. Coleman Falls, VA 24536.  Memorial contributions may be made to Cove United Methodist Church in Janet’s name.
