In loving memory of Janet Marie Wilkes, who passed away on December 17, 2024, a few days after her 83rd birthday. Janet was born in Richmond, VA, on December 8, 1941, to Henry and Helen Beasley.
Janet was a loving parent whose life was deeply intertwined with the memories of all her cherished children, Shirley, Toni and Theresa, who tragically predeceased her. She remained resilient despite the immense loss she carried.
Janet was a thoughtful and compassionate woman who loved her family and was a devoted friend. She had an easy smile and a contagious laugh that made spending time with her a joy. She loved her little dogs, Jessy and Itsy. She loved the mountains and long drives on mountain roads. Her hobbies included cooking, family history, temple work, and her favorite television shows. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, her faith was a constant source of strength and comfort.
Janet is survived by her brother, Thomas Beasley, Sr.; her sister-in-law, Ann Beasley; grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded by her parents, her husbands, Michael Holiday and Richard Wilkes; daughters, Shirley Holiday, Toni Smalley, and Theresa Redford; and brother Raymond Beasley, Sr.
In the last few months of her life, Janet was lovingly cared for at Seven Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, where she formed special bonds with the staff who brought her comfort.
There will be a private service in the spring.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
