Janice Margaret Camplin, 80, of Lynchburg, VA, died Thursday, July 08, 2010. She was the wife of the late Donald Camplin, for 47 years.
Born Saturday, August 24, 1929 in Long Island, NY, Janice was the daughter of the late Howard Wood and Christine Zeilner Wood.
Janice is survived by her children, Kenneth Camplin and his wife, Wendy, of Forest, VA,
Jeanne Kovanda and her husband, Gary, of Rockton, IL, Eric Camplin and his wife Janine, of Batavia, IL, a son-in-law, Nicholas Pearl of Angola, NY, and eight grandchildren; Karen Kovanda, of Rockton, IL, Brendan Camplin, of Batavia, IL, Kym Kovanda, of Rockton, IL, Christine Pearl, of Angola, NY, Lindsay Camplin, of Batavia, IL, Bradley Kovanda, of Rockton, IL, Eric Camplin, of Forest, VA, and Alexandra Camplin, of Forest, VA.
In addition to her parents and her husband Janice was preceded in death by a daughter, Delene Pearl.
Janice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated teacher, who taught for close to 50 years. Janice taught for 43 years at Lake Shore Central School in New York, where she also was the Curriculum Director. After retiring and moving to Lynchburg taught at Lynchburg College and worked with the Virginia State Department of Education. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star. Her favorite past time was playing bridge or watching sports. She loved sports of all kinds, and was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,
The family will receive friends from 4 PM to 6 PM today at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Monday, July12 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynchburg, with Pastor Dennis S. Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Moneta, VA.
