On November 4, 2018 our Father in His infinite wisdom called home our loving mother Janice Rhodes Burdette. She was born January 26, 1656 to Betty L. Rhodes and the late Alex P. Rhodes.She was preceded in death by her brother Clifton A. Rhodes Sr. and daughter Tiffany S. Burdette.
Janice was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She enjoyed gardening, cooking good food, flea markets, yard sales on Saturday mornings, and attending Mt. Plain Baptist Church on Sundays.
She had many faithful and devoted friends including Annette Rhodes, Julia Patterson, Janice Rhodes, Sandra Ludwig, Linda Marshall, Edith Clark, Shirley Davis and many others.
In addition to her mother, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children: Karen Johnson (Barry) of Bedford, Anitra Young (Roosevelt) of Newport News, Va., and Kenneth Burdette Jr. of Huddleston, Va.; four grandchildren, Alexia, Taylor, Christian, and Emmanuel; one great-grandchild, Ethan; her two brothers, Marvin Rhodes (Lois) of Huddleston, Va. and Wayne Rhodes of Lynchstation, Va.; one sister, Jerlean Martin of Huddleston, Va. and longtime friend Ronald Spinner.
Visitation to be held Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford, VA.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford is assisting the family.
