Janice Anita Murchison Truesdale

d. September 20, 2024

Forest, Virginia

Janice Anita Murchison Truesdale (88 years young) passed away peacefully at home by the grace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at approximately 9 a.m. Friday morning September 20th, 2024. She was proceeded in death by her husband; Dana Leroy Truesdale of 61 years, her sisters; Ruth, Thelma, Florence and Shirley.

She leaves a legacy of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be missed terribly by her daughter, Dana Lee Nicholas, her husband Paul, their daughters and husbands; Lauren and Travis Dodgion (great grandsons, Atlas and Eli), Jordan and Parker Wright and by her son, Mark Truesdale and his daughter Jessica and his son Jason and Jessica North (great grandchildren, Olivia, Luke and Liam)

She was a woman of integrity, extremely giving of her time and finances, a wonderful loving and firm disciplinarian; a mother who naturally loved her family well. She wasn’t one for idol conversation. She lived a very quiet life after the death of her husband in 2017. She was raised in Maine and never lost her love for mountains, rivers, ponds and creek beds. She had all kinds of good memories from her childhood. She was a foster child who was grateful for loving caregivers and because she knew her sisters. they loved each other and God was so merciful to them all. She used her upbringing as a reason to love more and to be a wonderful example of who a mother should be. She was an Army wife for 33 years and it served her well as she was able to travel. She had a comfortable retirement.

Her and her husband enjoyed camping and their dogs (many dogs) over the course of their marriage.

Janice decided in 2023 to sell their home of 40 years in Newport News to move to her new home in Lynchburg with her daughter and son in love.

May all who read this understand that her whole family has the blessed hope of seeing her and her husband again; that our hope is in the personal relationship and Lordship of Jesus Christ in each of our lives. We must each make that decision, and our family encourages you to get to know Him.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
