Janie Marie Singleton Short
Janie Marie Singleton Short departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 09, 2010. She was loving wife of the late Edgar Franklin Short, Jr.
Janie was born on December 17, 1932 in Naruna, VA; she was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Janie Dunn Singleton. She was a faithful member of College Hill Baptist Church and served on the board of deaconess.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Lynn Merideth; her brothers, Paul F. Singleton and Charles (Edgie) Singleton; and a sister, Elma S. Holland.
She is survived by her children; Darryl F. Short and wife, Belva, Janice S. Breusch and husband, Paul, and Karen S. Davis and husband, Harry; her brothers and sisters, Mildred Tuck, Margaret S. Vassar and husband, George, Barbara S. Davis and husband, James Elmer, Jr., Betsy S. Burton and husband, Ernie, Darrell (Mac) Singleton, Maude S. Dowdy, Eva S. Owen, Richard (Dick) Singleton and wife Margaret, James W. Singleton and wife, Glennie; sisters-in-law, Zada Singleton, and Joyce Singleton; six grandchildren, Amber and Cody Short, Dianna and Alice Bruesch, Keith and Kyle Davis; two step-grandchildren, Mike and Eric Bruesch; special friend, Dewey Clark and many other special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 11, 2010 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at College Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Andrew Grose officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Naruna, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to College Hill Baptist Church, 1101 Floyd Street, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
