Janie Virginia Thaxton

Janie Virginia Thaxton, of Bedford, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in Oakwood Manor Nursing Home. Born in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Ann Nance Thaxton and David Leslie Thaxton.

Janie was a charter member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. The church was started in the Thaxton Family yard in October 1952.

In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Lena Thaxton, Ruby Sophie Thaxton and Irma Lee Thaxton; and four brothers, John Will Thaxton, Carl Hammett Thaxton, Robert Garland Thaxton and David Guy Thaxton, Sr.   She is survived by one sister, Emma T. Overstreet of Moneta; two nephews; one niece; three great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

A celebration of Janie\"™s life will be conducted at 11 AM, Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Grace Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, Friday, October 1, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
