Janine Adams Cook (Beverly), 81, of Bedford, Virginia, passed away on October 12, 2022. She was the daughter of Harold Adams and Ruby Ford Adams and the wife of Rev. Dr. A. Wayne Cook for 58 years.
Janine Cook was born on October 25, 1940, in East Chicago, Indiana. She graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Whiting, Indiana, in 1958, then pursued her bachelor’s degree at Bob Jones University and Tennessee Temple University. She completed her bachelor’s degree, later in life, in Christian Education and a master’s degree in Christian Counseling, at Andersonville Baptist Seminary. She was the first speech recitalist at Tennessee Temple University. She taught kindergarten through college, private piano, and voice lessons. She taught more than just subject matter; she impacted the life of every student at every level, often altering their path in life. As a Pastor’s wife, she was a powerful prayer warrior and friend to everyone she met.
Janine Cook was a member of LibertyLive Church of Greenbrier, in Chesapeake, Virginia and enjoyed music, singing, playing piano, reading, crafting, church activities, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition, Janine Cook, is survived by her husband, Wayne Cook of Bedford, Virginia; mother-in-law, Deany Cook of Roanoke, Virginia, brother-in-law, Dennis M. Cook (Marilyn) of Troutville, Virginia, Christi Vandergrift (Wally) of Salem, Virginia; children: John Mark Cook (Paula) of Forest, Virginia, Renee Cook Wheelus (Stan) of Gainesville, Florida, Lisa Cook Kewley of Kokomo, Indiana, Tammy Cook Russell of Bedford, Virginia; her grandchildren: Christopher Scott Jr. (Lesley) of Bedford, Virginia, Byron Scott (Lauren Gallis) of Gainesville, Florida, Courtney Scott of Gainesville, Florida, Meghan Osenton (Denny) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Travis Kewley of Kokomo, Indiana, Ryan Kewley of Kokomo, Indiana, Kyle Kewley of Kokomo, Indiana; Andrew Russell of Bedford, Virginia and her great-grandchildren: Noah Scott, Blaine Scott, Ian Scott, and Russell Osenton, and many loving friends.
In addition to her parents and in-laws, Pete and Evelyn Cook, Janine Cook is preceded in death by her grandson Marvin Ray Scott, and son-in-law, Donald Lee Russell.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home at 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia, with Pastor Tony Mitchell, officiating. Family and friend’s visitation time will continue in the chapel at the end of the memorial service. The memorial service will also be live streamed from the Tharp Funeral Home website link.
