Jarvis Clifton \"Bud\" Oxner, Jr., 61, of Amherst, died on Sunday, April 15, 2012. He was the loving husband of Susan Oxner. Bud was born on March 4, 1951 in Sylva, NC, a son of Elizabeth Oxner of Gladstone and the late Jarvis Clifton Oxner, Sr.
In addition to his wife and mother; he is survived by a son, J. C. Oxner, III and wife, Christine and their sons, Nickolai and Jayston of CO; a daughter, Savannah Oxner, and husband, Billy Gilbert of Amherst and a \"daughter\" Katherine Walker; two sisters, Pat Grayson of Mount Holly, NC and Beverly Pugh and husband, Wally of Madison Heights; a brother, Larry Oxner and wife, Vivian of Appomattox; one aunt and numerous uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bud proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. He worked at Greif Riverville Mill as an electrician for 33 years. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson, working on home improvement projects, working crossword puzzles and reading. He showed his love for others by spreading laughter and helping those in need.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights. A celebration of Bud\"™s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights with the Rev. Tom Bryant officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 16.
