Jarvis Mcgrath Copeland

Jarvis McGrath Copeland, “Bunk” departed this life on February 3, 2019 after a long and active life.
Born, June 17, 1957 he was the son of the late Joseph and Georgia Mae Thomas Copeland. He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyne “Jackie” Nowlin.
He leaves to cherish his memories three brothers, Melvin (Theresa) Copeland, Michael (Juanita) Copeland both of Madison Heights, VA., Robert (Serita) Copeland of Lynchburg, VA; four nieces Melba, Melinda and Maria Copeland of Washington, D.C., and Shontia Allen of Hurt, VA; three nephews Andrea (Porschia) Evans, Christopher & Tristan Copeland of Lynchburg, VA; a host of great nieces and great nephews. A devoted friend Janice Cabell of Lynchburg, VA. Extended family Russell (Shirley) Patillo of Madison Heights, VA and their daughters Valeria and Tracie, and a host of other family and close friends.
Growing up on Galts Mill Road, Jarvis was known in the neighborhood as “Bunk”. At an early age, he became a member of Scott Zion Baptist Church. He graduated from Amherst County High School.
Jarvis was employed by Central Virginia Training Center, Old Dominion Job Corp, Greater Lynchburg Transits Company and his most recent StarTek. Jarvis was a devoted Washington Redskin fan. Bunk was also a member of the “Unknown Truckers” van club of Madison Heights. He loved competing in shows and won many trophies.
A celebration of Bunk’s life will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
