Jean Bragassa Fry

Jean Bragassa Fry, 95, of Camp Hill, PA, and formerly of Lynchburg and Alexandria, VA, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, with her daughter and son-in-law at her side. Born on January 5, 1927 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Basil Bragassa and Dora (Thompson) Bragassa.

A graduate of Holy Cross Academy (1943) and Virginia Commercial College, she worked as a legal secretary for several major law firms, including Easley & Hogue; Caskie, Frost, Davidson & Watts; and Williams, Robertson & Sackett. Other employment included Leggett’s Department Store and secretary to Msgr. F. Harold Knott of Holy Cross Parish.

Surviving Jean is her daughter, Dorothy Previc and her husband, Thomas, of Camp Hill; grandsons, Keith Previc of Camp Hill and SR Christopher Previc USNR of New Cumberland, PA (currently on active duty in Djibouti, Africa); cousin and best friend, Elizabeth Ann (Bragassa) Williams and husband, Stan, of Richmond, VA; nephew, David Bragassa and wife, Jacqui Stanley, also of Richmond; and many much-loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Fry; a brother, Joseph B. Bragassa, Jr; four sisters-in-law, Theresa (Fry) Verdinella, Mary Fry, Madeline (Fry) Fielder, and Jane Fry; and a niece, Linda Fielder.

For many years Jean was a dedicated member of the Center for Economic and Social Justice in Arlington, VA. Jean was an accomplished pianist who could play Chopin and Beethoven, and she also loved fishing, horseback riding and hunting dogs (which her family raised).

A public graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1341 Bedford Ave, Lynchburg.
