Jean Frye Tweedy, 97, daughter of Lonnie and Rosa Bell Frye, was born, raised and enjoyed a long, lovely hometown life in Lynchburg. She passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023.
Jean was the deeply loving, awesome cooking, always caring, and great vegetable garden helper wife of Malcolm ‘Jack’ Tweedy. She was a delighted in-law to Ny Campbell, the marvelous other mother to niece Judith Caldwell, a fun filled grandmother to grand-nephew Adam Wells, and super big sister to niece Betty Wooldridge. She was blessed with many wonderful friends– her acquired family. She was especially thankful for Marie Hall, Peggy Martinez, Terry Mason and Kay and Bennie Smith whose caretaking, love and devotion made her last weeks the best they could be.
Jean began her career as an office assistant at Nehi (she loved that orange soda), then Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company, then as Senior Clerk in Purchasing at Limitorque. Retirement put her at Wendy’s almost daily for fun lunch gatherings. Jean was known for that mischievous bright twinkle in her eyes, her playful nature, her amazing memory, and her incredibly wry, sharp, clever sense of humor—teeming with the most amusing stories, jokes, sayings, and verses. Gifts of joy, laughter, wisdom, and insight that she bestowed on us all.
Her graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday February 17, 2023, at Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Ave, Lynchburg.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care given by the staff at Centra Hospice, Lynchburg.
