Jean Moore Crouch

Jean Moore Crouch, age 78, of Evington, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of Harold Otey Crouch for 48 years.
Born in 1936 in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin Moore and Helen Pearce Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
In March of 1966, Jean graduated from Lynchburg General Hospital School of Nursing with the third highest score in the state of Virginia. She then began employment at Lynchburg General Hospital before starting work with the first cardiology group in Lynchburg. She went to work at Westminster Canterbury where she retired after 18 ½ years. She later returned to Westminster Canterbury where she worked part-time before going to The Summit full-time for five years.
Jean was an avid reader and loved doing puzzles. She was a member of Langhorne Chapel Community Church.
Jean is survived by her husband Harold Otey Crouch of Evington, VA; four children, daughter, Linda St. John and husband David of Williamsburg, son, Wade May of Roanoke, son, Harold Allen Crouch and wife Rena of Evington, daughter, Sharon Crouch of Altavista; six grandchildren, Samantha Crouch, Dawson St. John, Coty Crouch, Stephanie Crouch, Logan St. John, Hannah Crouch; one great-grandson, Karson St. John; and one special grandchild, Alexis Toms Parker.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dwight D. Oldham and staff of Lynchburg Hematology-Oncology and Centra Hospice. A special thank you to her nurse, Teresa Turner.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 11 AM at Langhorne Chapel Community Church, with Reverend Dwight D. Weaver, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Leffler Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
