Jean Moss Parrent

Jean Moss Parrent, 81, of Forest, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Parrent.

Jean was born May 5, 1930, in Amherst County a daughter of the late Joseph Emmett Moss and the late Hilda Cash Moss. She was retired as a secretary with the Boonsboro Elementary School and was a member of Boonsboro United Methodist Church.

Jean is survived by a son, R. Craig Parrent and his fiancé, Brenda Howard of Forest; three daughters, Dr. Phyllis Parrent and Dr. Edward Fine of Martinsville, Robynne Hammer and Steve of Forest, Michelle Burnett and Edward of Lynchburg; and a brother, James E. (Joe) Moss of Madison Heights and four grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Overstreet and five sisters: Mildred Overstreet, Gertrude Phelps, Evelyn Lehnen, Margaret Barkell and Wanda Watson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 25, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Carl Saunders and Rev. Kenneth Phelps officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will take place at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery in Lexington at 4:00 pm.
