Jean Alice Parrish Thomas

Jean Parrish Thomas, 65, of 146 Oakview Drive, Monroe, VA departed this life on January 9, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born on April 15, 1958. She was the daughter of the late Mary “Liz” Parrish and John A. Parrish.

Jean leaves to cherish her memories her only child, Brandon O’Neil Thomas: “The Light of her Life”.

Surviving are two sisters, Deborah Parrish Fletcher (Scotty) of Lynchburg, Twinita D. Parrish of Madison Heights; three brothers, Kenneth Parrish (Janice) of Madison Heights, Weldon Parrish and Anthony Parrish both of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Alyssa Thomas, Ayden Thomas and Adalyn Price all of Amherst County; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

GOD’S GARDEN

God looked around His garden

And He found an empty place.

He then looked down upon this Earth,

And saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you and

Lifted you to rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful,

He always takes his best.

He know that you were suffering,,

He knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never

Get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough,

And the hills were hard to climb,

So He closed your weary eyelids,

And whispered “Peace be thine”

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn’t go alone,.

For part of us went with you,

The day god called you home.

Granny sleep so sweetly, we let you sleep on

Your sickness all ended; your troubles all gone.

Our depth of sorrow, no one can tell of the loss we know so well.

Granny, while you sleep you sleep a peaceful sleep.

Our memories of you we will keep.

A Funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Scott Zion Baptist Church located at 2579 Galts Mill Road Madison Heights, Virginia  24572. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2023 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights.
