Jeanne Delpha Sherburne , 79, of Lynchburg, Va., died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Jeanne was born Tuesday, July 28, 1936 in Rutland, VT, the daughter of the late Robert and Louise Delpha. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Joel Bradford Sherburne; two children: daughter, Leigh Anne Cunningham, and husband, Gary of Manhattan, KS and son, David Joel Sherburne and wife, Kimberly, of Lynchburg; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Delpha and wife, Krystyna, of Camillus, NY.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Richard.
Jeanne and Joel were married on July 2, 1955 in Syracuse, New York, and her career was launched as a “G.E. wife.” She picked out homes, dealt with contractors, paid the bills, and raised her children, all with remarkable success. After her husband’s retirement in 2001, she continued running the household until her “retirement” in 2011, when she relocated from Lake Vista to the Bentley Commons retirement community in Lynchburg, which she greatly enjoyed. A highlight for her was travel, particularly cruises to places she had not before seen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church Friday, April 22, 2016. A service time is still pending.
